Since 2013, the Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra has partnered with talented high school jazz bands to open for them in their monthly Cliff Bells performances. The reason was to provide the young jazz musicians a chance to hear a professional big band and to play on Cliff Bells stage. High school group performs from 7-8pm. The time can be split up between two jazz bands if your school has two groups. The SGJO goes on immediately afterward at 8:15pm. It is expected that the high school group stay for the first set completion at 9:15pm. There is a $10 door cover for all non-performing listeners for both high school and SGJO groups.

What high school must provide:
Performing students and warm up and place cases in the green room. The green room is behind the curtain on house-left, and up the stairs.
Anyone under 21 must attend with an adult and cannot sit at the bar or order alcohol. There is a dinner menu. Students should not arrive before 6pm. Dress for Cliff Bells is no jeans, no tennis shoes, no logo-t shirts. (Dressy casual or better)
There is a paid parking lot across the street and plenty of metered street parking. Fox Theater and Detroit Opera House Parking Structures are also in walking distance. Please be cautious about leaving valuables in car, as is the case in any large city.
